We are excited to invite you to an engaging and thought-provoking evening dinner seminar, featuring Professor Rajesh Dhakal, a globally recognized leader in earthquake engineering and seismic resilience.
While modern seismic design codes have been remarkably successful in protecting lives during major earthquakes, recent events around the world have revealed a growing challenge: the significant economic losses caused by damage to buildings that remain structurally safe. Much of this damage stems not from the primary structural system, but from non-structural elements such as ceilings, partitions, building services, and architectural components.
This lecture offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into one of the most important emerging topics in earthquake engineering while connecting with fellow professionals, researchers, students, and industry leaders.
The evening will include a networking reception and complimentary buffet dinner, providing attendees with an excellent opportunity to meet and engage with colleagues from across British Columbia's earthquake engineering community.
Date: Thursday, July 30, 2026Location: Royal Vancouver Yacht Club | 3811 Point Grey Rd, Vancouver, BC
